The BIASC Blog today cites a Shea Homes piece outlining some of the reasons why it's better to buy a new home than one that's been foreclosed on or a short sale. Check it out.

Not to be rude, but that's a rather weak list of reasons to buy new. I mean they're all true, but they're more of personal decisions rather than actual reasons to buy new. If you buy new, you're paying a lot more than you would if it's slightly or moderately used. If you're scared about germs, clean it. If you're worried about stolen items, that will effect the overall price of the home in your favor. If you're worried about damages, get it checked out before you buy it, and that will also effect the price of the home in your favor. This is where negotiation comes in, you have to vocalize all the problems and relate that to the price you want. Repairing a home, even with major damages, rather than buying a new home can save a lot of money.
