Committees
BIASC-LAV committees are a great way for members to get involved in their Chapter and develop ties to other members. Through their involvement, members have the opportunity to build strong relationships with industry professionals at numerous events over the course of the year.
Committees are headed by a designated chairman who is responsible for running the meetings and coordinating with staff. Committees usually have anywhere from 5 to 20 participants. All BIA members are welcome to take part in any of these committees.

Government Affairs
The Government Affairs committee directs Chapter action in Ventura County, the City of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County and the other cities within LA County. The Government Affairs Committee works on policy issues that directly affects the ability of our members to do business in our region: water quality, air quality, housing affordability, growth restrictions, development fees, the building process and many other building-related issues. The committee typically meets by phone on a monthly basis. Additional meetings, subcommittees and task forces are established as needed.
Programs Committee
This committee organizes recurring events, including mini-mixers, general membership meetings and educational seminars. Commmittee members work at events to help them run well and to encourage business between members. Committee members also give input and ideas on new events so that there is something for all members and potential members to enjoy.
Membership Committee
This committee works to strengthen our Chapter's membership. It is dedicated to recruiting new members and retaining current members. To do this, committee members work to educate members and potential members on the benefits available to them through the BIA. The committee also organizes membership drives.
Emerging Leaders of Tomorrow Committee (ELT)
This committee is for the younger (Under 40) generation of BIA members to address their unique perspective and needs and to encourange their input for fun new event ideas while introducing them to mentors in their respective fields.
Special Events
The Chapter's Golf Tournament is one of our most significant events. The Golf Committee is in charge of organizing and conducting the tournament, as well as gathering vital sponsorships. Typically, the tournament takes place in the beginning of Summer at a prestigious local golf course. The Installation Committee plans the annual Awards & Installation Evening each November.
